The Sierra EV that debuted a couple of years ago has been making waves all around with its line-up extending to more trims. The pick-up truck is shockingly quick and comes with fast charging capabilities and a practical Midgate design for moving long objects.

    Styling and Interiors

Style-wise, the Sierra EV conveys a bold statement, thanks to its smooth aerodynamic profile. At the front, the truck features LED headlamps, a protruding grille and 18-inch wheels lending it a commanding road presence. The tailgate has been designed in such a way that it enables easy loading and unloading making it an ideal fit for work and leisure purposes.

Interiors portray a minimalistic yet sophisticated design with a large 16.8-inch diagonal touch screen taking centre stage and giving access to all tech and entertainment. The unit is compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The vehicle also gets remote automatic parking in the top-end Denali trim, while also getting Super Cruise hands-free driving technology that takes care of lane-keeping and cruise control.

    Power, Acceleration and Towing Capacity

Powering the Sierra EV is the electric drivetrain at both the front and the rear with AWD, churning out 754bhp and 1064 Nm torque. Another interesting trick that Sierra EV boasts is the air suspension that can lower or raise the vehicle according to driving conditions. The truck also comes with a ‘crab walk’ feature taken from Hummer EV, enabling the rear wheels to turn in the same direction as the front wheels for manoeuvring the vehicle diagonally.

With multiple driving modes to suit individual preferences, the Sierra EV gets a regenerative braking system that also includes one-pedal driving that lets the driver slow the vehicle significantly when the acceleration pedal is lifted off. The truck is surprisingly quick with a 0-60mph sprint taking just 4.5 seconds.

The company claims the Sierra EV pick-up truck can tow up to 10,000 pounds. Thanks to the ProGrade Trailering package, including an integrated trailer brake controller, trailer tyre pressure sensors, a hitch-view camera, a trailer camera and blind-spot functionality.

While the GMC hasn’t revealed the battery pack details, it does say that the top Denali Max Range trim can deliver a range of up to 440 miles on a single charge. Performance details for other trims are still a secret, however, the truck supports fast charging at up to 350 kilowatts. If you are lucky to get a charging station of this capacity, it means you can add 100 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes.

    Launch Date and Pricing

The launch of Sierra EV Denali trims is expected in the US in September-October 2024, while Elevation and AT4 trims will be available early next year. Launch in the Middle Eastern markets is expected in the first half of 2025. The price range could be between US$ 70,000 (262,000 SAR) and US$ 110,000 (413,000 SAR).
