KIA Tasman

The Kia Tasman made its debut at the 2024 Jeddah International Motor Show as the first-ever pick-up truck from the Korean manufacturer. It comes with a rugged exterior design. It is available in 2-seat and 5-seat configurations. 

The Kia Tasman is the brand’s first-ever pickup truck. It is being offered in 2 versions: a 2 seater and a 5 seater, both being offered in three variants each. The pick-up impressively combines a rugged exterior with a comfy and feature-rich cabin. The Kia Tasman pick-up is expected to launch globally next year, in 2025. That’s when the prices will be revealed as well.

Variants

The Kia Tasman comes in two different versions: Single Cab and Double Cab. The Single Cab variant only has two seats (driver and front passenger). 

Whereas, the Double Cab gets five seats (driver, front passenger, and three rear passengers in 2nd row). Both Single Cab and Double Cab versions have three variants: Base, X-Line, and X-Pro.

Engine and transmission

The Kia Tasman is offered in two different engine options: a 2.5-liter petrol and a 2.2-liter diesel engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. 

The 2.5-liter petrol engine makes a peak output of 277 horsepower and 421Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 8.5 seconds and has a top speed of 185kmph. On the other hand, the 2.2-liter diesel engine produces 207 horses and 441Nm. The diesel engine can make the car go from 0 to 100kmph in 10.4 seconds and has the same 185kmph top speed.

Features

Interior

The Kia Tasman comes with a modern and spacious cabin. It uses premium and sustainable materials inside. The seats and upholstery use recycled PET fabric and bio-PU synthetic leather, the paint is BTX-free and bio-based, and the interior carpet is also made using recycled PET material.

Exterior

The Kia Tasman has a rugged and robust exterior design. It has a powerful stance with a commanding look. The signature Kia Tiger Face grille, the chunky bumper, and the squarish fenders enhance its appeal even more. It gets LED headlights and tail lights for that modern touch. The optional 17/18-inch wheels complement the pick-up truck’s overall look. 

Entertainment and convenience

The Kia Tasman features a big rectangular panoramic touchscreen console that integrates the 12.3-inch driver’s display with a 5-inch functions control screen and a 12.3-inch multimedia display. 

It comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Customers can also opt for the eight-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system for ultimate sound quality. The pick-up also gets three driving modes: ECO, Smart, and Sport.

Comfort

Although it is a pick-up truck, the Kia Tasman comes with a luxurious and comfortable cabin. The PU synthetic leather is nicely cushioned to keep both the driver and passenger cozy inside the car. The Tasman pick-up includes dual wireless charging pads, large foldable tables, and hidden 33-litre storage bins under the rear seats. 

It also provides best-in-segment headroom, shoulder room, and 940mm legroom in the second row. The rear seats recline between 22 and 30 degrees, ensuring a spacious and comfortable ride.

Safety

The Kia Tasman comes with multiple airbags including at the front and side (depending on the variant). It also gets a range of driver-aids and safety features including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that brings in various functions such as lane keeping assist, blind spot collision warning, and remote parking assist through Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2)
