How many variants are there in the Vinfast VF 7?

The Vinfast VF 7 will come in two variants: Eco and Plus. The VF 7 Eco would be the more affordable base variant. On the other hand, the VF 7 Plus is likely to be the higher and more expensive variant. 

Which is the most value-for-money variant? 

We think the Vinfast VF 7 Eco variant would be the better pick among the two available variants. This is because both variants have significantly different performance figures and the Eco variant is likely to be a lot more affordable than the Plus variant. It also gets a slightly longer range than the Plus trim. 

However, if you have a bigger budget and want your car to be all-wheel drive (AWD), have a dual electric motor, better performance along, bigger 20/21-inch wheels, and a larger infotainment display. Then, you can consider the VF 7 Plus variant as well.

What features does the Vinfast VF 7 get? 

The Vinfast has equipped the VF 7 eSUV with advanced features. The Eco variant gets a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, whereas the top Plus variant features a 15-inch display. The display allows you to manage all your media and connectivity functions. 

Both variants have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. They also have GPS and navigation features to help you drive through unknown areas with ease. They are also compatible with over-the-air (OTA) updates. The VF 7 eSUV has LED lights all around and gets a panoramic glass roof too.

How spacious is it? 

The Vinfast VF 7 is a 5-seater compact electric SUV. It is likely to be a spacious family car and seems to have sufficient room for all the passengers. The compact SUV is also expected to have a spacious storage space in the trunk at the back, which should be sufficient to carry your suitcases and other stuff easily.

What motor and battery options are available?

The Vinfast VF 7 Eco and Plus variants come with different motors and drive configurations. But both the variants get the same 75.3kWh battery pack. The VF 7 Eco is a front-wheel drive eSUV and is equipped with a single electric motor that makes a maximum power of 150 kW (201 horsepower) and 310 Nm of maximum torque. It should be a fun-to-drive car with sufficient performance to drive around urban roads as well as highways. 

The range-topping VF 7 Plus variant has an all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration. It is equipped with dual electric motors which churn out a peak power of 260 kW (348 horsepower) and 500 Nm of peak torque. We expect the VF Plus variant to deliver an exhilarating driving experience. With AWD, the SUV also offers better control and handling. Moreover, the availability of 500 Nm of torque means you would be able to do those quick overtakes pretty easily. Both the variants are expected to feature a push button start feature as standard. 

What’s the mileage/range of the Vinfast VF 7?

The Vinfast VF 7 comes with a huge 75.3kWh battery pack fitted in both variants. The VF 7 Eco delivers a 450 kilometers (280 miles) WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) estimated range. The top VF 7 Plus variant gets a bit less range of 431 kilometers (268 miles) WLTP estimated range. We think both Eco and Plus variants have impressive ranges for an all-electric SUV with only a slight difference in the range. 

However, both ranges are sufficient to drive around the urban landscape as well as long highway drives. You can charge the Vinfast VF 7 from your home charger or opt for the portable charger to get it charged at the public fast charging stations. The eSUV supports both AC and DC charging.

How safe is the Vinfast VF 7?

The Vinfast VF 7 is likely to get multiple airbags including front, side, and curtain airbags for the safety of all the occupants. The compact eSUV is also equipped with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), which provides an additional layer of safety by preventing accidental slides under hard braking.

The VF 7 eSUV also comes with many other safety features including 2 levels of highway assist, lane centering assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency lane keep assist, and optional Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

Should you buy the Vinfast VF 7?

The upcoming Vinfast VF 7 seems to be a promising eSUV, with impressive performance, long-range, and advanced features. The Eco variant is expected to be a more friendly and easygoing car, whereas the Plus variant is likely to be the faster, bolder, and more performance-focused version which doesn’t mind losing a few kilometers of range for the thrilling performance. 

Both of its variants seem to offer an attractive package with sufficient range and performance figures. We hope Vinfast prices it with a competitive price tag compared to its alternatives. 

So, the choices are clear, if you want a calm electric SUV with just the perfect amount of power and long range for your everyday commutes then the VF 7 Eco is for you. However, if you desire a more powerful eSUV and are okay with losing a bit of range for it then the VF 7 Plus would be the right choice.

What are my alternatives? 

The upcoming Vinfast VF 7 is expected to be a good car with impressive capabilities. However, if you want to explore other options, you can consider its rivals with similar specifications. 

First is the Chevrolet Bolt EV which comes with similar range and performance figures on par with the Vinfast VF 7 Eco. Another is the Tesla Model Y which also has two variants. While the RWD variant goes against the Eco variant, the Long Range AWD variant offers better range, performance, and features than the VF 7. The upcoming Hyundai Kona Electric can also be a great alternative to the VF 7 Eco with similar power and range and comes along with the trusted Hyundai nametag.
