How many variants are there in the Vinfast VF 6?

The Vinfast VF 6 will be available in two variants: Eco and Plus. The VF 6 Eco is the entry-level trim which will likely be priced less. Whereas the top-of-the-line Plus variant is expected to be costlier. 

Which is the most value-for-money variant? 

According to us, the Plus variant would make more sense and is expected to be the best value for your buck as it has better performance along with the larger 19-inch wheels. Yes, it does trade off the estimated range slightly for the extra power, but that isn’t such a significant difference. 

However, if you are a range-conscious driver who wants his car to reach longer distances in a single charge and don’t mind losing a bit of performance for it, then you should go for the Eco variant.

What features does the Vinfast VF 6 get? 

The Vinfast VF 6 comes loaded with modern features. It is equipped with a big 12.9-inch touchscreen display which occupies the middle part of the dashboard, it also gets a head-up display (HUD) for the driver. The touchscreen display lets you access all the media controls along with connectivity features.

The Vinfast VF 6 comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility for seamless connectivity with your devices. The eSUV also displays GPS and maps to help you drive through the fastest routes with less traffic and drive around unknown roads effortlessly. The eSUV comes with all LED lighting and also has a panoramic glass roof.

How spacious is it? 

The Vinfast VF 6 seems to be a decently spacious car. As a 5-seater compact electric SUV, it looks to have a good enough in-cabin space for all the passengers. The VF 6 has a big size trunk at the back to carry your suitcases, handbags, and other smaller luggage as well. So, if you want to go for a weekend adventure or a small vacation with the family, then go for it.

What motor and battery options are available?

The Vinfast VF 6 is a front-wheel drive electric SUV driven by a single electric motor which is powered by a 59.6kWh battery pack. As a result, the Eco trim produces a maximum power of 130kW (174 horsepower) and 250 Nm of maximum torque, which may not be super impressive performance figures but are very good for everyday commutes along with occasional highway runs. 

The Plus variant, on the other hand, offers better performance and makes maximum power of 150kW (201 horsepower) and 310 Nm of peak torque. 

On paper, the performance of the VF 6 Plus trim is better as compared to the Eco trim and is sufficient for urban driving as well as highways. We expect it to provide a thrilling driving experience with all the torque at your disposal directly from the start. Both variants are likely to get a push button start as standard for your convenience. Additionally, both the trims get 2 levels of advanced highway assist feature as well.

What’s the mileage/range of the Vinfast VF 6?

The Vinfast VF 6 is equipped with a 59.6kWh battery pack. The Eco variant trades in a bit of performance and in turn, provides a WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) estimated range of 399 km (248 miles). The Plus variant is high on performance but has a slightly less WLTP estimated range of about 381km (237 miles). 

Hence, the VF 6 can be a good car for your everyday commutes, but if you are taking the eSUV on a long highway drive, you will have to stop at around every 370-390 kilometers to get your car charged up.

How safe is the Vinfast VF 6?

Safety remains an important aspect on the Vinfast VF 6. The compact electric SUV is likely to come with multiple airbags to keep the driver and the passengers safe. The eSUV is also fitted with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), to prevent slides during an emergency or hard braking and deliver a better braking performance.

Other standard driver-aid features of the Vinfast VF 6 include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), 2 levels of highway assist, lane centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and emergency lane keep assist.

How many color options are there?

The Vinfast VF 6 eSUV is expected to come in a range of different color options including, gray, blue, orange, and more. 

Should you buy the Vinfast VF 6?

The Vinfast VF 6 seems to be a good car. We expect it to deliver an enjoyable driving experience. The car has vegan leather seats which would keep both the driver and the passengers comfortable. Being an electric vehicle (EV), the availability of all that torque right from the start would make it a lot more fun to drive a car. Along with the performance and features, the eSUV also promises to provide a good enough range for your daily driving needs. 

However, as mentioned earlier, if you are going for long highway drives, then you will have to plan your route beforehand and charge your electric SUV at around every 370-390 kilometers. You will also have to decide on which charging station you want to charge your car. And if you are willing to make that compromise, then the Vinfast VF 6 would be a good addition to your garage.

What are my alternatives? 

If you are curious to know what else you can buy instead of the Vinfast VF 6, then you can have a look at its rivals as well. Starting with the BYD Atto 3, which is also an affordable and value-for-money compact electric SUV like the VF 6. It even has similar performance and range figures as well.
