Ferrari F80 Overview
The Ferrari F80 needs no introduction. It is a legendary car and is one that has always been a driver’s car. Enthusiasts have sworn by it and its handling dynamics combined with its strong chassis have always been the highlight of the package. Does the same stand true for the car’s 2024 iteration? We find out exactly that here, in as much detail as possible.
The F80 still proves to be just that incredible a car, if not more. Ferrari has proved that if performance, handling, and just a lot of driving fun are what we’re talking about, there is nothing that beats this brand and even the F80 in this segment.
Price
Ferrari hasn’t yet officially launched the F80 for our market. Once it does, we shall be among the first ones to let you know about its price.
Variants
Since the F80 hasn’t been launched, Ferrari hasn’t yet revealed what the car’s variants will be.
Color Options
The Ferrari F80 is on sale in 9 colors : Rosso Corsa DS, Aluminium Lucido, Bianco Italia, Blu Elettrico, Giallo Triplo Strato, Green Jewel, Rame Mica, Rosso Supercar, and Verde Masoni Opaco.
Engine & Transmission
Under the hood, the F80’s V6 engine alone delivers a jaw-dropping 888 horsepower, a remarkable 234 bhp increase over the V6 in Ferrari’s 296 GTB. This formidable engine is paired with a set of three electric motors: two on the front axle and one directly linked to the engine.
Together, they unleash a combined output of 1,183 bhp, a figure that propels the F80 into new territory as Ferrari's most powerful street-legal vehicle to date and sets an elevated benchmark for hybrid hypercars.
Performance metrics are equally staggering—Ferrari asserts that the F80 rockets from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 2.15 seconds, and blitzes to 124 mph in just 5.75 seconds. For context, this acceleration outpaces even the McLaren W1, which, while boasting rear-wheel drive, can’t rival the F80’s explosive off-the-line launch.
Features
-
Interior
The F80’s cockpit is configured in a 1+1 seating arrangement, with the passenger seat positioned slightly behind the driver. This staggered setup not only keeps the cabin slender but also creates additional room for essential aerodynamic components, maintaining both functionality and streamlined space for the driver-focused layout. -
Exterior
The F80’s exterior is as much about high-speed stability as it is about eye-catching design, achieving an astonishing 1,050 kg of downforce at 155 mph, which allows for exceptional cornering capability. This impressive aerodynamic prowess comes courtesy of active aero features, such as sophisticated bargeboards beneath the car, a deployable front flap that minimises drag on command, and a substantial rear diffuser.
Adding to this is the dynamic rear wing, which can extend up to 200 mm to act as an air brake or tilt to reduce drag during full-throttle driving—each element tailored for maximum speed and control. -
Entertainment
Inside the F80, the focus remains entirely on the driver with a distinctive “squircle” steering wheel, a two-spoke design equipped with physical buttons and toggles for crucial driving functions.
Ferrari’s signature manettino dial sits on the right side of the wheel, letting the driver swiftly switch between Wet, Sport, and Race drive modes, while controls on the left manage the powertrain, including settings for Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify modes. This tactile setup emphasises functionality over frills, placing everything the driver needs within easy reach. -
Comfort
The Ferrari F80 isn’t made for comfort and hence it wouldn’t be fair to expect it to be plush and comfortable. -
Safety
Ferrari didn’t stop at the sheer power and aerodynamics with the F80; it’s also packed with advanced safety and handling tech. The active suspension system works continuously to keep the car at a steady ride height.
Fuel Efficiency
You shouldn’t expect a mileage of more than 3-4kmpl with the F80, given the sheer firepower on offer.
Best value for money
Details about the F80’s variants aren’t public yet and hence we cannot recommend which variant will be the best for you.
Alternatives
After all of this, if your heart still isn’t set on the F80, the first car you can consider instead of the Ferrari, is the McLaren W1. It is an incredible hypercar which is known to set race tracks on fire. And that pretty much sums up the rivals’ list because honestly there is no other car quite like it.
The W1 was the successor to the P1 and the F80 has been pit against the W1 ever since.
