Aston Martin DBS Overview
How much is the Aston Martin DBS’s price?
This 2024 Aston Martin DBS model’s starting price is AED 1,215, 000, and the highest price reaches AED 1,260, 000.
How many variants are there in the Aston Martin DBS?
Currently, in 2024 there is only one model of DBS available which is available in two trim levels and is equipped with a 5.2-litre V12 and the 5. 2-liter V12 770 Ultimate. The former is AED 1,215,000 and the latter at AED 1,260,000.
Which is the most value-for-money variant?
In our view, the extra bucks for the Ultimate trim are well justified at AED 45,000. So, if you have been scratching your head over the differences of the varying trims of the 2024 Aston Martin DBS, we believe you should perhaps just extend your wallet to the Ultimate version.
What features does the Aston Martin DBS get?
One of the older complaints that seemed to make the rounds regarding the DBS is the interior. On one side, it has an exaggerated design, wrapped in soft, buttery leather, which truly echoes the car’s price. Of course, it’s quite logical for this price range, and many rivals also offer the same in terms of the build’s material. One of the design aspects that will raise eyebrows – though not in a positive manner – is the information and entertainment system that appears to have been designed a couple of years ago.
How spacious is it?
On the space front, we were quite satisfied with what the 2024 Aston Martin DBS has to offer. As a grand touring car, it has enough for you to comfortably travel around the globe and that is something we have always loved.
What engine & transmission options are available?
Under the hood, the DBS now features the only drivetrain that Aston Martin produces entirely in-house: a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12. While much of the interior hardware still comes from Mercedes-Benz—who also supply the twin-turbo V8 engines for the Vantage and DB11—this V12 stands as a testament to Aston Martin’s engineering prowess. The fact that many of these components are sourced from a major manufacturer like Mercedes isn’t necessarily a drawback; after all, these parts are usually more reliable and benefit from extensive research and development budgets that far exceed anything Aston Martin could allocate.
The absence of a four-wheel-drive system means that driving the DBS can feel a bit slippery, with a slightly greasy sensation underfoot.
What’s the mileage of the Aston Martin DBS?
8 kmpl is what the DBS owners have reported about their car’s mileage. Again, it is nothing to write home about, but we don’t think mileage would be a deciding factor for the Aston Martin DBS’ prospective owners.
How safe is the Aston Martin DBS?
Drivers will appreciate the accuracy and natural weighting of the car’s electronics. The DBS handles its considerable mass impressively, but when you start to push the car, especially on uneven roads, the rear end can feel somewhat soft. This is likely by design to aid traction, but the consequence is that the rear axle can feel like it’s getting quite a workout, particularly over bumpy terrain. In some DBS models we’ve tested, there’s a noticeable tendency for the rear to pitch up and down and even to shift slightly from side to side as the suspension struggles to manage all the torque being funneled through the rear wheels. However, more recent models seem to have mitigated this characteristic to some extent.
Still, with such an enormous amount of torque being delivered to the rear tires alone, some level of this behavior is almost inevitable. The best approach is to accept that this is simply how the DBS operates—it doesn’t necessarily mean that grip is being lost. Of course, if you switch off the stability control, the DBS will easily break traction at the rear.
The differential isn’t always predictable in how it will react; sometimes it allows a single wheel to spin, while at other times, it can cause the rear end to flick sideways without much warning. It’s at these moments that the DBS can suddenly feel like a very large and powerful car, demanding respect and careful handling.
How many color options are there?
Head to Aston Martin’s official website and you will see that the brand offers the DBS in a total of 12 color schemes: Jet Black, Satin Jet Black, China Grey, Apex Grey, Onyx Black, Xenon Grey, Satin Xenon Grey, Magnetic Silver, Cumberland Grey, Titanium Grey, Satin Titanium Grey, and Ultramarine Black are the paint schemes on offer as of now.
We think the Ultramarine Black looks rather stunning, given that this blacked-out treatment adds a touch of stealth to an otherwise elegant and very good-looking car.
Should you buy the Aston Martin DBS?
The Aston Martin DBS essentially serves as a placeholder model to keep the brand afloat until the new St Athan plant is fully operational, where the DBX crossover will be produced.
That being said, the DBS is still an exceptional sporting GT that will appeal to its target audience. It’s a more tense, alert, and athletic version of the DB11—faster and more engaging to drive. While it may not represent a revolutionary leap forward, it does have the ability to take your breath away. And for now, it’s the only Aston Martin that can genuinely claim to do so.
What are my alternatives?
Now while you may think that the Aston Martin DBS does not have any direct rivals and that is true, up to a certain extent. But if you think about it, you can think about getting cars like the McLaren 720S and the Ferrari 812 instead of the DBS. The McLaren 720S’ sheer fun factor is a whole lot more than the Aston Martin DBS, while the Ferrari 812 is just better in almost every way, be it the handling, outright excitement, or even sophistication. So if you are a more experienced driver and know how to get the best out of a car, we think the 812 might be the one for you to go for.
