VinFast VF 3 Electric SUV Unveiled In Vietnam

SAUDI ARABIA : VinFast's budget-friendly all-electric SUV, the VF 3, was globally introduced in Vietnam in June 2023. Sporting a robust design reminiscent of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the VF 3 is classified as a 'mini-eSUV'. Its upright profile and four-seat configuration make it an ideal vehicle for urban commuting.

When bookings opened earlier this month, VinFast reported an impressive response, with over 27,000 non-refundable orders placed for the VF 3 within just 66 hours. Deliveries in Vietnam are anticipated to commence in August 2024.

While these developments were already known, the Vietnamese EV manufacturer has now disclosed the technical specifications of this compact electric SUV. The VinFast VF 3 will be available in two trims: Eco and Plus. Both variants feature a rear axle-mounted electric motor that generates 43bhp and 110Nm of peak torque.

The VF 3 can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in 5.3 seconds, a testament to its urban agility. It is powered by an 18.64 kWh battery pack, which provides a claimed range of up to 210 km on a single charge, according to the NEDC cycle. The battery can be recharged from 10% to 70% in just 36 minutes with an appropriate fast charger.

In terms of size, the VinFast VF 3 measures 3,190 mm in length, 1,679 mm in width, and 1,622 mm in height, making it slightly larger in length and width but shorter in height compared to the MG Comet EV. The wheelbase spans 2,075 mm, and it boasts a ground clearance of 191 mm, enhancing its ability to handle urban road conditions.

The interior of the VF 3 is equipped with a 10.0-inch infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside connected car technology. The second-row seats are foldable, offering up to 550 liters of storage space. For the driver, features include a digital instrument cluster and a multi-function steering wheel. Additional amenities comprise automatic climate control, cruise control, and dual airbags, enhancing both comfort and safety.

In Vietnam, the VinFast VF 3 EV is priced at VND 322 million. An alternative model without the battery is available at VND 240 million, allowing for flexibility in ownership and usage. This new entrant by VinFast showcases their commitment to providing accessible and practical electric vehicles, catering to the growing demand for eco-friendly urban transportation solutions.
