Subaru Japan has offered a preview of the 2025 Subaru BRZ, highlighting improvements in handling, steering, and the addition of a Sport mode for the manual version of the compact rear-drive coupe.
These enhancements are designed to elevate the driving experience of the popular sports car. They follow the updates made to the 2024 Subaru BRZ, which introduced a new tS flagship and included the Japanese automaker's EyeSight driver assistance technology suite in the manual version for the first time.
Reflecting the recent changes announced for the 2025 Toyota GR 86, the MY25 BRZ will benefit from new dampers and refined power steering, both intended to enhance ride quality and responsiveness.

A notable new feature for the updated BRZ is the Sport mode, activated via a button on the centre console, which enhances throttle response and increases the volume of the Active Sound Control system inside the cabin. The automatic version will also allow for manual downshifts at higher revs, giving the driver more control.
Under the hood, the BRZ retains its 2.4-litre flat-four engine, producing 174kW/250 Nm. This means the manual version still accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and has a top speed of 226 km/h (claimed). The Japanese-market STI Sport flagship, which already features its own STI-tuned damper setup, will be the only variant not receiving the chassis upgrades.
