The 2025 Nissan Patrol Is Coming On THIS Date!
SAUDI ARABIA : Nissan’s new SUV, the Patrol, will be launched on September 4! While the brand itself hasn’t mentioned the exact name of the upcoming vehicle, the teaser's silhouette makes us think it’ll likely be the Patrol. In fact, the brand has revealed that it will share a new teaser every Thursday.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What will be the main difference in the engine of the new-gen Patrol?
The new-gen Patrol will transition from a V8 engine to a V6 engine, promising higher mileage and lower running costs. What are the expected interior features of the new-gen Patrol?
The new-gen Patrol is likely to have larger fully digital displays, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto as standard features.- The new-gen Patrol will likely still share quite some hardware with its more premium counterpart, the Infiniti QX80
- Its solid V8 will make way for a V6, which should ideally help improve mileage
- The chief rival of the Patrol is the Toyota Land Cruiser J300
Exterior Highlights
Nissan is all set to update its much-loved SUV, the Patrol soon. However, the ladder frame will be unchanged, which is an integral part of the car and has always given the car so much driving feel. Despite being a large and relatively heavy SUV, the Patrol has always been a sweet handler and that is mainly down to that very ladder frame.
Next, its iconic grille, something that has always been a part of Nissan’s design language, will be changed on the new-generation Patrol. It will have upright chrome slats along with the typical honeycomb pattern, something we have seen more and more on modern-day cars.
Interior Features
Now while Nissan hasn’t revealed more about the other details, we think its features list will get an upgrade as well. There will likely be larger fully digital displays. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto should be standard as well, something that is pretty much a given in most luxury cars nowadays. A car growing bigger and premiums should get fancier features.
Engine
Next is the heart of the matter, the Patrol’s mill. The brand will be changing the Patrol’s engine configuration, transitioning from the current monstrous V8 engine to a V6 engine that promises to return higher mileage and hence be lighter on your pocket. Now given that the Infiniti QX80 has a V6 mill, we think the new-gen Patrol could get that very mill, albeit with some minor tuning changes.
And if the cylinder loss has worried you, don’t! Despite the cylinder handicap, Nissan tells us that this mill will outperform the outgoing V8 in almost every aspect. Be it the performance, mileage, or even the smoothness, the brand says the new one will be the better one.
The older 5.6-liter naturally aspirated V8 was quite legendary for us enthusiasts. It made a solid 298 kW and 560 Nm of torque and was something we loved. Instead, the car will get the brand-new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 from the Infiniti QX80, one that impressively makes more power and torque: 336 kW and 698 Nm.
This engine will be mated to a more advanced nine-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the older seven-speed version, further enhancing the vehicle's performance and efficiency.
Launch & Availability
September 4 is when the new generation Nissan Patrol will finally be unveiled. Until then, Nissan will be releasing teasers every week to build up the hype. Expect the new Patrol to feature a slight bump in price.
