Renault Unveils the Iconic 4 E-Tech

SAUDI ARABIA : Renault has revived its classic 4L model as the Renault 4 E-Tech, which was revealed at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. This retro-inspired yet futuristic vehicle has a combination of design cues from the past with modern technology. Buyers can choose between two electric powertrains, customizable interiors, and first-class safety features. 

Here’s what makes the new Renault 4 a nostalgic yet innovative addition to the EV market.

Design: A Classic Reimagined

The Renault 4 E-Tech retains iconic design cues from the 4L. These cues include the classic horizontal bonnet, vertical grille, and rounded headlights. The designers have updated these elements, adding a polycarbonate grille and modern lighting accents. 

There is a 220mm added length and 81mm increased height, which give it a distinct and rugged stance. To complete its nostalgic look, there is also a playful plastic canvas roof that opens with Renault’s virtual assistant ‘Reno’.

Intelligent Interior and Customization

The Renault 4 E-Tech has a customizable interior that recalls the original model’s practicality. Offered in the Techno trim, a unique jeans-themed design references the original 4’s comparison to a pair of jeans. 

Two horizontal screens—a 7-inch driver display and a 10-inch multimedia screen—include Google services and ChatGPT integration with over 200 commands. Renault ensures practicality doesn’t take a back seat with modular storage and a boot capacity of 420 liters.

With 670 possible color combinations and stitching, Renault brings a customization level rarely seen outside luxury brands.

Electric Powertrain and Performance

The Renault 4 E-Tech has two battery choices: a 52 kWh model delivering 150 bhp with a 250-mile range and a 40kWh version with 120 bhp and a 186-mile range. Both configurations support V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2G (vehicle-to-grid) charging, making city or road trips convenient. Despite weighing 1,410kg, the 4 E-Tech accelerates to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The company equips the car with 26 driver assistance features and a robust Level 2 ADAS system to ensure secure and flexible driving. 

The car is planned for European release next year, and Renault fans worldwide eagerly await its arrival.
