How much is the GAC AION Y Plus price?

The GAC AION Y Plus prices are not yet available in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the electric SUV is yet to be launched in the Middle Eastern market. However, in Malaysia, the AION Y Plus is priced at MYR 121,590 and goes up to MYR 137,590, which is equivalent to SAR 108,322 and SAR 1,22,576.

How many variants are there in the GAC AION Y Plus?

The GAC AION Y Plus is available in the International market as well. It gets two variants: Elite and Premium. Both cars come with the same battery packs and electric motor. However, they differ from each other in terms of features and wheel sizes.

Which is the most value-for-money variant? 

If priced similarly to Malaysia, then the GAC AION Y Plus Premium, costing around SAR 1,22,576, seems to be the most value-for-money variant. Although, it gets the same battery pack, motor, power output, and range as the Elite version. It stands out in terms of convenience features like bi-directional charging, a ventilated driver seat, electronically adjustable seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting with music mode, and a power tailgate. The electric SUV also gets bigger 18-inch wheels and advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control, intelligent cruise assist, and lane keep assist too.

What features does the GAC AION Y Plus get? 

The GAC AION Y Plus is loaded with a lot of entertainment and convenience features. It is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless smartphone connectivity. 

The music and audio needs are taken care of by the 6-speaker Bongiovi audio system. It also comes with USB charging ports at the front and rear rows. It also gets a multifunction tailgate, panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, flush door handles, and electrically adjustable, heated, and foldable rear view mirror.

The LED headlight is also accompanied by LED DRLs (daytime running lights). The electric SUV  has features like an automatic headlight, follow-me-home lights, and skyline-connected LED tail lights. In-cabin lights on the car include 32 colors of ambient lighting, the Premium variant also has ambient lighting with music mode. The electric SUV also has electric power steering and four drive modes: i-Pedal, Eco, Normal, and Sport.

How spacious is it? 

The GAC AION Y Plus comes with a spacious cabin. Being a compact electric SUV, it can easily accommodate up to 5 people, including the driver. The cabin is spacious and the seats are made of leatherette material, which would make it comfortable for the passengers.  The trunk space of the car is 150 liters but will increase significantly when you fold the 60/40 split folding rear seats.

What engine options are available on the GAC AION Y Plus?

The GAC AION Y Plus is a front wheel drive (FWD) electric SUV equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor which is powered by a 63.2 kWh battery pack. The electric car produces a maximum power of 201 horsepower (150kW) and 225 Nm of maximum torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.5 seconds. 

What’s the mileage of the GAC AION Y Plus?

The GAIC with its 63.2kWh battery pack, delivers a NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) certified range of 490 km on a single charge. You can charge the electric SUV through AC charging as well as fast charge DC charger. 

How safe is the GAC AION Y Plus?

The AION Y Plus hasn’t been tested by the Global NCAP, but the electric SUV was tested earlier by the Chinese NCAP, resulting in a 5-star rating. The AION Y Plus has six airbags, two at the front, two at the sides, and two side curtain airbags. The car also comes with a 360-degree camera, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ISOFIX child restraint anchorage points.

Additionally, the GAC AION Y Plus comes with a range of driver assistance features including 2-level ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), traction control system (TCS), electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold control (HHC), forward collision warning (FCW), automatic emergency braking (AEB) and lane keep assist. The Elite variant gets cruise control features, whereas the Premium variant has an adaptive cruise control. 

How many color options are there?

The GAC AION Y Plus is available in 10 different color options: Lucky Gold, Youthful Green, Pure White, Quicksilver, Elegant Grey, Liberty Ash, Glamour Black, Lucky Gold with Black Roof, Youthful Green with Black Roof, and Pure White with Black Roof.

Should you buy the GAC AION Y Plus?

The GAC AION Y Plus should be a fun-to-drive electric SUV. Being an electric car it will have access to all the torque right from the start which delivers a good acceleration and helps you to make those quick overtakes in the city. It may not have exhilarating performance figures, but would offer a decent performance for your daily commutes like going to the office, picking up kids from school, heading out for shopping, or going for a family dinner, etc.

The spacious cabin which comes loaded with modern features would keep all the passengers comfortable and entertained. The well-padded leatherette adds to the comfort of all the occupants. Moreover, the car comes with a lot of safety and driver assistance features to keep all the occupants safe. Hence, it is a good option for someone who is looking for a daily driver electric car to drive around the city.

What are my alternatives? 

If the GAC AION Y Plus electric SUV doesn’t impress you enough, you can have a look at its rivals like the BYD Atto 3 and Geely Geometry C. The BYD Atto 3 is also a compact electric SUV that comes loaded with even better features including voice control. 

It delivers better performance but has a lesser 420 km range as compared to the AION Y Plus. On the other hand, the Geely Geometry C has more torque than the Y Plus and is available in two variants. The base variant offers a lesser 400 km range, but the top variant has a 500 km range.
