All-new Porsche 911 Hybrid To Debut On May 28

SAUDI ARABIA : The iconic Porsche 911 sports car is all set to receive a hybrid powertrain for the first time in its history. Porsche has confirmed that the current 992-generation 911, which has been on sale since 2018, will be getting a new petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, the unveiling of which is scheduled to take place on May 28.

Temporarily termed a ‘performance hybrid’ by Porsche, this new iteration of Porsche 911 has been under development for a few months and has already recorded a lap time of 7:16.934 at Nurburgring. Porsche claims that this hybrid version of 911 will have enhanced power and torque outputs over the current standard form of the sports car.While it is unclear, the new Porsche 911 Hybrid is said to replace the current base version or the mid-spec GTS version. The hybrid Porsche 911 has already covered 3 million miles in its trial runs in varying climatic conditions and roads, with the final stages of testing concluding in Dubai. 

While Porsche has confirmed that it will be a petrol-electric, the powertrain details are still under wraps. It is also unclear whether this car will be a regular hybrid sports car or a plug-in hybrid. With its unveiling on May 28, the new Porsche 911 Hybrid will be the third hybrid offering from the German sports car specialist, after the Cayenne and Panamera. The hybrid sports car category has already caught much attention with the Lamborghini Revuelto, and with the Porsche 911 Hybrid, it will only get even better.
