Regardless of its popularity and fandom, the Camry is not without fair competition in Saudi Arabia. It goes up against segment stalwarts like the Mazda 6, Nissan Altima, and Honda Accord – keep reading the article for more details.

    Understanding the Toyota Camry 2025

Before we proceed with this comparison, let us understand the all-new Toyota Camry a little better. Its ‘hammerhead’ front design is shared with the latest Prius and gives the new Camry an intense but premium look. The twin-beam LED headlights and C-shaped LED taillights, along with the sharp character lines and low-slung shape, come across as bold but elegant.

The top-spec variants ride on 18-inch wheels that look stylish and get chrome on the doors for extra ‘premium’ points. The Toyota Camry 2025 is 4,920 mm long, 1,840 mm wide, and 1,445 mm tall. The sedan has a 493-liter boot and a wheelbase of 2,825 mm.

Its interior is an amalgamation of practical ergonomics and comfortable conveniences mixed with plenty of space and usable technologies. There are physical buttons provided on the steering wheel, dashboard and center console – figuring what does what is child’s play.

There is a 12.3-inch touch-infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. Alongside these, you get 15W wireless charging, ventilated front seats, three-zone climate control, a 9-speaker JBL audio system, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree cameras, courtesy lamps, a powered rear sunshade, etc.

The Toyota Camry gets a head-up display, radar-guided cruise control, pre-collision alert, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam assist, and an auto-dimming IRVM. It also gets 6 airbags, hill-start assist, TPMS, parking sensors, and vehicle stability control.

The Toyota Camry 2025 is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with and without electric assistance. The base engine develops 201 hp and 240 Nm, while the hybrid version manages 227 hp and gets a CVT gearbox. Meanwhile, the N/A model uses an 8-speed automatic. The Hybrid and N/A versions average 27.7 kmpl (3.6 L/100 km) and 17.1 kmpl (5.8 L/100 km), respectively.

    1. Mazda 6 (SAR 91,425–132,250)

    Design and interior

While the outgoing Mazda 6 is an older-generation car, its organic design has aged remarkably well over the years. Its streamlined and sculpted exterior features characterful LED headlamps, flared front fenders, 19-inch aluminum wheels, and Mazda’s high-quality Takuminuri paint finish. The Mazda 6’s length and boot space both trail behind the Camry’s, but the former’s handsome appearance remains unmistakably charming.

    6 Photo from Mazda

The interior of the Mazda 6 looks and feels outdated in many aspects, though all the controls are within reach and easy to operate. The quality of the materials and the general fit & finish are certainly second to none! While space and comfort are good at the front, taller occupants would feel cramped in the back of the 6.

    Features and equipment

The traditional three-cluster driver’s display is backed by a 7-inch screen, while the center touchscreen is an 8-inch unit. There is an 11-speaker Bose audio system, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, powered & ventilated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, an electric rear sunshade, a powered sunroof, paddle shifters, and an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold.

    6 Photo from Mazda

The Mazda 6’s safety features include 6 airbags, adaptive LED headlights, 360-degree cameras, and traction control & stability control systems. There is radar-guided cruise control, collision detection with emergency brake assist, a head-up display, and all-around parking sensors. The 6 also gets lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus system.

    Engine and performance

    6 Photo from Mazda

Most Mazda 6 variants come with a 2.5-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder N/A engine. It makes 187 hp and 252 Nm of torque, and all variants get a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The High Plus also uses a 2.5-liter engine but with Mazda’s Dynamic Pressure Turbocharger, meaning 228 hp and a mighty 420 Nm of torque!

Despite being front-wheel drive, the Mazda 6 Turbo can go from 0-100 kmph in under 7 seconds. It should also be able to clock over 200 kmph with ease, making it a properly quick car. Where the N/A version manages 12.3 kmpl (8.1 L/100 km), the turbo variant returns around 11.1 kmpl (9.0 L/100 km).

    1. Nissan Altima (SAR 112,700–141,500)

    Design and interior

The sixth-generation Nissan Altima debuted in the Middle East in 2019, with a facelift arriving in 2022. The Altima’s large V-Motion grille, sharp LED headlights, and coupe-like roofline are fairly stylish. However, the turbine-design 19-inch wheels and chrome-tipped exhausts look even better. The Altima is about 12 mm wider than the Camry and is available with more exterior paint options.

The Camry’s interior feels slightly more modern due to its full-digital gauge cluster and sleeker dash design. The Altima’s cabin is spacious and its seats are appreciably comfortable, but the overall layout makes it look a little boring in comparison. A flat-bottom steering wheel and premium leather seats are available, along with more shoulder room than in the Mazda 6.

    Features and equipment

The Nissan Altima 2025 gets a 9-speaker Bose audio system with active noise cancellation and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. These are followed up by a 7-inch digital MID, wireless charging, an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, available sport suspension, remote engine & AC start, and powered front seats with heating.

    Altima Photo from Nissan

The Altima also gets adaptive cruise control, forward & rear emergency braking, and surround-view cameras with Moving Object Detection. Backing these up are lane-departure & blind-spot warnings, lane-keeping assist, high-beam assist, driver alertness monitoring, hill-start assist, and up to 8 airbags. There is also vehicle dynamic control, traction control, automatic headlights, and an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold.

    Engine and performance

The Nissan Altima 2025 comes with a 2.5-liter N/A four-cylinder with 188 hp & 244 Nm and a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 248 hp & 380 Nm. Both drive the front wheels via an Xtronic CVT gearbox with paddle shifters. The Altima Turbo returns 16.4 kmpl (6.0 L/100 km), while the Altima N/A averages 17.6 kmpl (5.7 L/100 km).

    Altima Photo from Nissan

Even the base Altima can do over 200 kmph and hit 100 kmph in 8 seconds. The Altima Turbo will do the same in under 7 seconds and go over 225 kmph in a straight line. It drives well for a family sedan but can get unsettled over bad roads because of its large 19-inch wheels.

    1. Honda Accord (SAR 137,885–185,035)

    Design and interior

The svelte coupe-like styling of the Honda Accord makes it one of the best-looking midsize sedans around. The proportions are well-balanced and the dynamically-poised ‘fastback’ rear stands out effortlessly. The pinched front features wedge-shaped headlights and a flat nose, while 18-inch machine-polished wheels on the sides and tapered LED taillights at the rear round off this chic-looking exterior.

    Accord Photo from Honda

The Accord has the most contemporary-looking interior here and comes across as both well-built and high-quality. The suave design, coupled together with the mesh-type front vents and a flat dash, make for a pleasingly minimalistic cabin. There is plenty of space and the seats are very accommodating, while the controls feel tactile and ergonomically sound. A job well done, Honda.

    Features and equipment

The Accord’s equipment list is generous and has wireless charging, a 10.2-inch customizable driver’s display, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. There is wireless Apple CarPlay & wired Android Auto, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, powered front seats with memory, the Honda Connect app, active noise cancellation, dual-zone climate control, Google apps, 4 driving modes, automatic headlights & wipers, etc.

    Accord Photo from Honda

Providing safety for the occupants is Agile Handling Assist, Driver Attention Monitor, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation System, Collision Mitigation Braking System, along with adaptive cruise control and Honda’s LaneWatch camera. You also get 7 airbags, emergency calling, a head-up display, hill-start assist, and vehicle stability assist.

    Engine and performance

The Honda Accord gets a 1.5-liter turbo-four with 194 hp and 260 Nm. Meanwhile, the Honda Accord e:HEV (Hybrid) combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor to produce 204 hp and 335 Nm. Both use a CVT, with their fuel consumption being 17.3 kmpl (5.8 L/100 km) and 24.9 kmpl (4.0 L/100 km), respectively.

    Accord Photo from Honda

With its hybrid powertrain, the Accord can reach 100 kmph in around 7 seconds. The Accord Turbo goes from 0-100 kmph in just under 8 seconds. Both versions have a top speed in excess of 190 kmph. The Honda Accord’s handling dynamics and ride quality are equally good, too.

    Conclusion

    Camry Photo from Toyota

If you can afford it and want the best combination of fuel economy and performance, go for the Honda Accord Hybrid. Pick the Turbo if frugality is not your biggest concern. The Mazda 6 looks great and drives really well, but it is old now. The Altima is a good car if you are fine with its bland interior.
