The Renault 4 is a compact all-electric car with an SUVish look boasting retro styling complemented by modern touches and comfortable interiors. The Renault 4 is an electric car that takes inspiration from the classic Renault 4 model, a popular people's car from the 1960s.

The new electric version is a compact city car that combines retro-styling with modern electric powertrain technology. The car features a 40kWh and 52kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 248 miles on a single charge. With a focus on sustainability and affordability, the Renault 4 electric is an attractive option for urban commuters and environmentally conscious drivers. Production is expected to start in 2025.

The Renault 4 is expected to be priced starting at around SAR 145,000 in Saudi Arabia.

Engine and transmission of Renault 4

The Renault 4 powertrain comprises a 52kWh battery which combines with a 110kW electric motor to produce 150 hp and 245Nm. It will also come with a 40kWh battery mated to a 90kW electric motor to generate 120hp and 225Nm torque.

The 100 kW DC charger can charge the battery from 15 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes, while the 11 kW AC charger can replenish the battery from 10-100 per cent in 4 hours 30 minutes. The 40kWh battery can be charged with an 80kW DC charger.

Features of Renault 4

Interior

The interiors of the car mainly focus on technology, space and sustainability. The cabin is adorned using premium materials, with quilted seat fabric made from 100 per cent recycled fibres. The company further claimed that 88.6 per cent of the total car can be recycled at the end of its life.

Exterior

The Renault 4 E-Tech retains its iconic rectangular shape but with a modern twist - its edges are now more angular, giving it a sleek and rugged look. The front grille is a sleek, single-piece design with a surrounding glare and a prominent Renault logo. 

The shape of the rear window reminds us of the original car, while the rear lights have been updated to a modern LED design, featuring three distinct segments. The car has alloy wheels which are shod with meaty tires. 

Entertainment and convenience

The vehicle gets twin horizontal screens, giving the cabin a contemporary look. The 10-inch multimedia screen in the centre comes as standard and features the award-winning OpenR Link system with Google built-in. 

The system offers access to a range of Google services, including Google Play Store and Google Maps, which provide charging-optimized route planning, even activating pre-conditioning of the battery as you reach the charging stop.

Comfort

The Renault 4 offers loads of comfort inside with a notable feature in the form of a canvas roof, which not only adds a touch of style but also offers the convenience of electric operation and voice-controlled opening. Then there is a powered tailgate, clever storage compartments, a foldable rear bench seat and climate control, all of which make everyday life a breeze.

Safety

On the safety front, the Renault 4 gets multiple airbags and a range of advanced driving assistance features, including active driver assist that combines adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go and lane centring assist, rear occupant safe exit alert, blind spot monitoring and hands-free parking. 

Fuel efficiency  of Renault 4

The Renault 4’s 52kWh battery pack offers an estimated WLTP range of up to 250 miles, while the lower 40kWh battery is good for a range of up to 186 miles.

Alternatives of Renault 4

The new Renault 4 will be challenging some of the big names, such as Peugeot E-2008, Vauxhall Mokka and Citroen e-C3 in the hotly contested B-segment.
