The Grand Koleos offers two powertrain options. The petrol-only version features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 155kW and 325Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in front-wheel-drive models or an eight-speed torque-converter automatic in all-wheel-drive versions.
Unlike the current model, which is based on the Nissan X-Trail, the new Grand Koleos draws heavily from the Geely Xingyue L, a Chinese SUV produced by the parent company of Volvo, Polestar, and Lotus, marking a new collaboration between Geely and Renault. Known locally in South Korea as the QM6, both old and new models will be available in showrooms until the end of 2025.
The Grand Koleos has grown in size compared to its predecessor, measuring 4780mm in length, making it comparable to the Kia Sorento and Mazda CX-8 rather than the current Sportage and CX-5, which measure 4672mm. Despite its larger body, the Grand Koleos offers only five seats, yet it boasts class-leading knee room for rear passengers and up to 2034 liters of boot space with the rear seats folded.
Inside, the Grand Koleos retains much of the Xingyue’s dashboard layout, featuring a trio of 12.3-inch screens: a digital instrument display, an infotainment touchscreen, and a touchscreen for the front passenger. The steering wheel, center console, gear selector, and key switchgear are essentially identical to the Geely counterpart, albeit with Renault branding. The software running on these screens is Geely’s, rebranded for Renault, supporting features like YouTube streaming and internet browsing, with apps transferable between screens.
