UAE Now Has New Tariffs For Charging Stations Related To EVs
SAUDI ARABIA : UAE now has a new tariff for the charging of electric vehicles. The goal of this new tariff is to ensure the rates are more standardized than before, something similar to what the current conventional fuels are like.
- The current rules and regulations might be changed in the future if the ministers think it’s needed
- The fee structure has essentially been divided into 2 - fast charging and slow charging
- These new tariffs will come into effect in about 2 months
One of the biggest issues with charging today’s electric vehicles is standardization. While there are a lot of standards for the prices of petrol and diesel, there are such things on EV charging stations, meaning these stations could charge the customer what they want. UAE has put that very issue to rest by issuing new tariffs for charging stations across the country.
Now, EV enthusiasts will remember the fact that the UAE announced an extensive fast charging unit installation all over the country earlier this year. And this tariff is the follow-up of that very step. The charging stations will henceforth be free once this tariff is implemented.
Now while this is a great step in the right direction, its implementation is the key. One of the biggest gripes for EV owners is the charging times and if the UAE government can at least somewhat address that, it could boost EV ownership, something that the government already wants.
