More Than 2,500 Mercedes Benz SUVs Recalled Over This Issue!

SAUDI ARABIA : Over 2,500 Mercedes-Benz SUVs in the UAE are set to be recalled to inspect the transmission's downshift operation, according to an announcement from the local importers of the German luxury brand. The models affected are the 2019-2023 GLS and GLE equipped with the M256 engine and NAG3 automatic transmission, as specified by Gargash Enterprises, the authorized importer for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates.

This recall is conducted in collaboration with the Consumer Protection and Commercial Control Department of the Ministry of Economy, aligning with the UAE's ongoing commitment to thoroughly review all products in the market and ensure consumer protection.

Mercedes-Benz AG has identified that certain GLE and GLS models built on the 167 platform may have transmission control unit software that does not meet the required specifications. The local importers have clarified that 2,521 vehicles are implicated in this recall. The affected vehicles can be identified by their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs), which range from 167 A001707 to A998465 and from 167 8001073 to B005639.

A VIN, consisting of 17 characters including capital letters and numbers, serves as a unique identifier for each vehicle. This number can be located on a plate attached to the driver's door jamb and on another plate fastened to the top of the dashboard on the driver's side. 

The distributors expressed their apologies for any inconvenience caused by this recall and extended their gratitude to customers for their patience and understanding during this process. And truly, such issues might not be expected with a giant of a carmaker like Mercedes Benz. That said, the brand also has to be given credit for acting on this issue promptly and taking immediate steps.
