Lucid Air Sales Surge as Tesla Model S Stumbles in 2025

Lucid Motors is making strong moves in the electric vehicle market, with record-breaking performance in early 2025. The brand has now posted five straight quarters of growing sales, driven by the success of its luxury electric sedan, the Lucid Air. 

In the first quarter of 2025, Lucid delivered 3,109 units, a 28% increase compared to the same time last year. According to Lucid’s interim CEO, Mark Winterhoff, the brand’s rise is directly linked to Tesla’s decline in the premium EV space—particularly in the case of the Model S.

Tesla Owners Flock to Lucid

Lucid’s sharp rise has been partly fueled by a shift in customer loyalty. Winterhoff revealed that “50% of all Lucid Air orders come from Tesla owners,” a figure that highlights the growing dissatisfaction among Tesla buyers. The Lucid Air, known for its sleek design and high range, continues to outperform its closest competitor, the Tesla Model S.

In stark contrast, Tesla saw its Model S sales drop to around 1,000 units worldwide during the first quarter of 2025. This steep decline has left Lucid in a dominant position, capturing a larger share of the global luxury EV market. 

Lucid’s focus on quality, performance, and technology appears to be paying off, particularly with discerning buyers in regions like KSA where premium EV demand is growing.

Lucid Gravity SUV Coming Soon

Lucid is now preparing to launch its second model—the Gravity SUV. This all-electric luxury SUV is expected to carry over the Air’s impressive technology and refined styling, but in a larger, more practical body. Given the strong global demand for SUVs, Lucid is confident that Gravity will push its sales figures even higher in the coming months.
