Saudi Arabia : Chery’s Jaecoo and Omoda brands introduce next-gen electric and hybrid models with futuristic tech, spacious cabins, and up to 1,250 km range at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Chery’s Jaecoo and Omoda divisions have made a strong impression at the Shanghai International Auto Show with the reveal of advanced electric and hybrid vehicles. Leading the charge are the all-new Jaecoo J5 BEV, a battery-powered SUV, and the global-market Omoda 7 SHS hybrid, also known as the C7 in China. 

These new models mark the next stage in Chery’s plan to expand its footprint across global markets—including Saudi Arabia—by introducing cleaner, smarter vehicles with extended driving ranges and refined designs.

Jaecoo J5 BEV: A Fresh Electric SUV

The Jaecoo J5 BEV is a fully electric SUV featuring a sleek, modern look and digital-first interior. Its 400 km range is supported by an efficient electric platform designed for daily usability and long-distance trips alike. 

Inside, the SUV offers a spacious cabin, a screen-based dashboard with centralized controls, generous cargo space, and a full suite of Chery’s latest safety and driver-assist technologies.

Omoda 7 SHS: A Super Hybrid Breakthrough

• Engine & power: Uses a 1.5L petrol engine paired with electric motors to generate 340 hp and 525 Nm torque.
• Extended range: Offers a total range of up to 1,250 km, including 151 km of pure electric range.
• Interior & design: Features a futuristic design, large cabin, and full tech suite.
• Market name: Known as C7 in China and will be sold as Omoda 7 SHS globally, including in the Middle East.

Jaecoo J7 Relaunch and Shared Hybrid System

The same hybrid system used in the Omoda 7 SHS is also found in the newly relaunched Jaecoo J7 SHS. With similar performance, the J7 delivers a total range between 1,200 and 1,300 kilometers, making it one of the most efficient hybrid offerings from the brand. This relaunch brings the J7 back into focus with key improvements in range, performance, and technology integration.

Global Strategy and Regional Focus

These new models are part of a broader plan by Jaecoo and Omoda to release at least five electric and hybrid cars worldwide this year. Having already established a strong presence in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, including KSA, both brands are now expanding into Europe. With operations in 42 countries and more than 1,300 showrooms globally, their reach is steadily growing.

The launch of the Jaecoo J5 BEV and Omoda 7 SHS underscores Chery’s commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility.
