Infiniti to Stop Production of the Q50 Sedan Worldwide

SAUDI ARABIA : Infiniti has announced its decision to stop the production of its Q50 sedan worldwide in December 2024, after its 11-year production run. This decision is a result of a decrease in sedan’s demand and dipping sales charts. 

• Production of the Infiniti Q50 has been stopped and the sedan will be discontinued after the 2024 model year.
• The Infiniti Q50 sedan will still be on sale until the stock runs out.

In June 2024, only 2,839 Q50 sedans were sold in the US, which is an 11 percent decrease in sales, compared to June 2023. The Q50 was the last remaining sedan in the Japanese brand’s line-up, which is now entirely dominated by SUVs and crossovers. 

Previously, Infiniti discontinued the sedan’s coupe version, the Q50 coupe. However, Infiniti is not the first brand to shift its focus away from sedans and coupes, rather this is an emerging trend in the automotive industry around the globe.

Why is there a pivot from sedans to SUVs and Crossovers across the world?

A few years ago, sedans were known to be the signature luxury cars, but with the increasing popularity of SUVs made the manufacturers launch luxurious SUVs. Now, the auto industry around the world is witnessing a major shift from sedans and coupes to SUVs and crossovers.

Will the Q50 sedan be on sale?

The remaining units of the Infiniti Q50 sedan will still be on sale for some time, till the stocks last. The four-door sedan is offered in 4 variants, with its price starting at SAR 173,000, which goes up to SAR 234,500. The Q50 sedan is available in two engine options - a 300 horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 engine and another bigger one that makes 400 horsepower.

Features on the Q50 sedan include a touchscreen TFT multimedia console, 16 speaker Bose audio system, smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather seats along with other convenience and safety features.

Will there be any sedan from Infiniti in the future?

The Infiniti Vision Qe is the brand’s first electric car. It was revealed back in 2023 and can be the Japanese manufacturer’s next sedan. However, this is only a concept car and can take months or even years to reach the production stage. So, currently, Infiniti will only be selling SUVs and crossovers for some time.
