Volkswagen Scout Electric Cars To See Global Launch On October 24

SAUDI ARABIA : Scout, Volkswagen’s electric hand, is all set to launch a couple of electric vehicles on October 24. We think the electric pickup truck will pack a punch and will be rugged. 

• Both cars will use a ladder-frame type platform 
• While both cars seem futuristic, they still have that retro touch to them
• 2026 is when the cars’ production will begin 

New, Modern Exteriors

The upcoming models teased by Scout Motors embrace a bold, retro-futuristic aesthetic that takes inspiration from the iconic International Harvester Scout II, a vehicle that made its mark between 1971 and 1980. These new concepts showcase boxy, squared-off designs that hint at a blend of nostalgic appeal and modern sensibilities. One of the standout design cues is the kinked C-pillars, which add a unique character to the vehicle's silhouette. 

The vertically stacked tail lights give the rear an imposing yet minimalist look, reinforcing the retro design language. Higher trims are expected to come with features catering to both road and off-road enthusiasts, with options for more refined road-biased configurations as well as rugged versions fitted with all-terrain tires, signaling their off-road capabilities.

New Platform

These vehicles won’t be built on Volkswagen’s existing PPE or MEB electric architectures, which are widely used in the global market. Instead, they will ride on an all-new ladder-frame platform developed specifically for Scout Motors. This fresh platform underscores a deliberate departure from the more conventional electric vehicle underpinnings seen within the Volkswagen Group, focusing instead on durability and off-road prowess. 

By designing a platform exclusively for these models, Scout Motors is setting its products apart from the mainstream electric vehicles, creating something more aligned with the rugged roots of the Scout name.

Launch & Availability

SCP will humbly project to begin the assembly of its much-anticipated line of EVs in the early part of 2026 in a facility that is under construction near Columbia, South Carolina. This new plant is a strong signal of the commitment that the Scout brand and the wider Volkswagen Group have to this market as the factory creates the basis on which other models that are found in VW’s vast portfolio can be built later on. 

For these vehicles, Scout Motors has partnered with Magna International; a company that is well-established in automotive manufacturing. The partnership seeks to align Magna’s know-how in engineering, and Scout’s creativity in design to offer a unique look at a time when manufacturers are flooding the market with electric vehicles.
