SAUDI ARABIA : Volkswagen is broadening its range of sporty electric vehicles with the introduction of the new ID.7 GTX sedan. This latest model features a robust 340hp dual-motor system, promising an exhilarating driving experience. The ID.7 GTX joins the ranks of Volkswagen’s other high-performance electric models, such as the ID.3 hatchback, ID.4 SUV, ID.5 SUV-coupe, ID.Buzz MPV, and the ID.7 Tourer estate.

Performance and Powertrain

The much-anticipated high-performance variant of Volkswagen’s flagship sedan shares its dual-motor powertrain with both the ID.Buzz and ID.7 Tourer. The ID.7 GTX surpasses the standard ID.7 model by delivering an additional 54hp, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100 kph in a mere 5.4 seconds. This makes it an attractive option for driving enthusiasts looking for electric performance.

Battery and Charging

Underpinning the ID.7 GTX is an 86kWh battery, capable of fast charging at up to 200kW. This allows the vehicle to charge from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes. Although Volkswagen has not yet disclosed the exact range for the ID.7 GTX, it is anticipated to be slightly less than the 685km range of the ID.7 Pro S, owing to its performance-oriented design.

Enhanced Chassis and Dynamics

The ID.7 GTX’s chassis and driving dynamics have been refined to manage the increased power effectively. It comes with a sportier steering setup and offers the option of Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), providing customizable handling for varied driving conditions. 

The exterior design is also sportier, featuring a unique GTX front bumper, LED ‘arrowhead’ daytime running lights, and black gloss trim, enhancing its dynamic look. Inside, the sedan mimics the interior of the GTX Tourer, complete with sports seats adorned with red stitching and GTX branding.

Future Plans and Market Expansion

While Volkswagen has not exactly revealed which markets will get this car, the brand does have some interesting expansion plans in place. Through some of its initiatives and programmes, the brand is aiming to launch mass-market electric vehicles in a lot of developing countries by 2026, highlighting the company’s commitment to expanding its global EV footprint. 

A lot of brands have already pledged to go all electric in the recent future and while Volkswagen has not explicitly done that, the brand is aiming towards going electric more than before through this step.  

With the launch of the ID.7 GTX, Volkswagen continues to redefine the limits of electric vehicle performance. This new model offers a compelling option for those seeking a sporty and dynamic electric sedan, further solidifying Volkswagen’s position in the high-performance EV segment.
