Upcoming Volkswagen A0 Compact SUV Teased

SAUDI ARABIA :  Volkswagen has teased its upcoming compact SUV globally, ahead of its expected launch in 2025. It will likely be a sub-4 meter SUV from the manufacturer and is codenamed the Volkswagen A0. 

• Volkswagen A0 will be the German manufacturer’s smallest SUV for the global market.
• It will likely be based on Volkswagen's MQB-A0 platform.

The Volkswagen A0 compact SUV is expected to be positioned below the Volkswagen T-Cross and Taigun in the German manufacturer’s lineup. Though the final and official name of the SUV hasn’t been revealed yet, Volkswagen has hinted that the upcoming A0 compact SUV will get a 5-letter name. We expect the upcoming A0 compact SUV to be based on the same platform as its sibling, in the Skoda lineup, the upcoming Skoda Kylaq subcompact SUV.

How does the upcoming Volkswagen A0 compact SUV look?

The latest teaser reveals a bit of design elements of the upcoming A0 SUV. The front-end design of the compact SUV looks as familiar as many of the other VW cars, featuring the brand’s global design language. It also seems to have a taller bumper and a slimmer front grille. It looks to have a coupe-like sloping roof line in the latest teaser. The SUV is also expected to get a connected tail lamp at the rear.

Which platform will the Volkswagen A0 Compact SUV be based on?

The upcoming Volkswagen A0 Compact SUV will be based on the German manufacturer’s MQB-A0 platform, which we have seen in many of Volkswagen’s latest cars including the Virtus, Slavia Taigun, and Kushaq. 

What do we expect from the upcoming Volkswagen compact SUV?

While Volkswagen hasn’t released much details on its upcoming A0 compact SUV, we expect it to be powered by the same 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine borrowed from the Volkswagen Tiguan, Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Kushaq, and Skoda Slavia. 

It will likely be available in both manual and automatic transmission options and may share many features with its siblings including the infotainment system, safety features, driver assistance features, and more.

How big will the upcoming Volkswagen A0 SUV be?

Being a sub-4 meter SUV, the upcoming A0 is expected to have a wheelbase of about 2.5 to 2.75 meters, keeping the car's overall length just under 4 meters.
