New Volvo EX60 Electric SUV To Hit The Roads In 2026

SAUDI ARABIA : The mid-sized electric SUV space is all set to expand further. 

• Volvo’s new platform is called the SPA3
• EX60 will make its debut sometime in 2026
• While Volvo’s plans have been delayed a bit, the brand is still committed to its EV plans

Volvo will soon be bringing the EX60 in about 2 years and its platform will spawn as many as 4 more electric vehicles in the coming years.

Even though Volvo has postponed its target for achieving its EV sales goal until 2030, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to the future of electric vehicles. At present, Volvo’s lineup includes five electric models, such as the EX90 and EX40. 

Additionally, the company is gearing up to introduce five more electric vehicles, with the new EX60 among the anticipated additions.

Brand-New Platform

The upcoming Volvo SUV will be built on an innovative new platform, which will feature cutting-edge mega-casting technology integrated into the SPA3 framework. This technology allows for the creation of large vehicle components as a single piece, thereby eliminating the need for assembling numerous smaller parts as in traditional methods. 

This advancement not only boosts the structural integrity of the vehicle but also streamlines the production process. Moreover, the modular nature of the SPA3 platform is set to significantly reduce manufacturing costs by enhancing efficiency and flexibility during assembly.

Upcoming Goals

Volvo’s forthcoming introductions of the mid-size SUV (EX60) and the electric sedan (ES90) are strategically designed to address diverse market segments. Although the company has revised its electrification milestones, it continues to focus on pioneering advancements in technology and improving the driving experience, to lead the premium EV market.
