Jaguar Discontinues Production Of Some Legendary Cars, Intends To Go Fully Electric Now

SAUDI ARABIA : Jaguar is taking a unique path in its shift towards an all-electric future. Unlike many other automotive brands that are gradually transitioning over several years or even a decade, Jaguar has committed to halting production of its gasoline-powered models before launching a new range comprised solely of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs).For the past three years, Jaguar has been gearing up for this significant transformation. In the United States, its current lineup includes the XF, E-Pace, F-Pace, F-Type, and I-Pace. According to a recent interview with Road & Track, Joe Eberhardt, President and CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, disclosed that the company plans to stop producing its current models as it prepares for an all-electric future.

Eberhardt essentially said that while most of their products will cease production in June, they will be sold for a much longer period, obviously to clear stocks out as well. As Jaguar transitions to an entirely electric range, it anticipates a decrease in vehicle sales compared to its historical figures. In 2017, the company sold nearly 180,000 cars and SUVs worldwide. However, with the introduction of its initial trio of next-generation electric vehicles, annual sales might settle around the 50,000 mark.

These upcoming electric models will be based on the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). The first of these new models, a four-seat GT, is scheduled to be unveiled this year and will enter the market in 2025. This model is expected to be the most powerful Jaguar ever produced, offering a range of up to 430 miles (692 kilometres). The second JEA-based electric vehicle is anticipated to arrive by late 2025, followed by the third in 2026.Jaguar’s bold strategy to rapidly transition to an all-electric lineup underscores its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the automotive industry.
