Hyundai Motor Hosts Camp IONIQ: An Electric-Powered Desert Retreat

In a move to highlight sustainable mobility, Hyundai Motor Company hosted Camp IONIQ, an immersive two-day experience in the heart of the UAE desert. Set against the serene backdrop of the UNESCO-recognized Jebel Hafit Desert Park, the event merged first-class electric vehicle technology with luxury camping. 

Camp IONIQ was designed to emphasize Hyundai’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and eco-friendly living while giving guests an unforgettable glimpse into the capabilities of the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6.

A Unique Desert Adventure

Camp IONIQ took sustainability to a new level by offering a fully electric camping experience powered by Hyundai’s IONIQ lineup. The IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, became mobile power sources, running camping appliances, lighting, and entertainment systems seamlessly. 

This innovative use of EVs demonstrated how Hyundai envisions eco-conscious mobility solutions that integrate with everyday life.  

Exploring the IONIQ Vehicles

The event began with participants collecting their IONIQ 5 or IONIQ 6 vehicles and camping kits at Hyundai’s Sharjah showroom. After receiving a briefing on the vehicles' features, driving routes, and safety precautions, attendees embarked on their journey to the camp. The scenic drive across desert highways allowed participants to experience the vehicles’ impressive battery range, smooth handling, and advanced features. 

Built on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the IONIQ models delivered superior performance with faster charging, extended range, and enhanced interior space. The vehicles’ ability to tackle challenging terrain while offering a quiet, comfortable ride underscored their versatility. Attendees also captured stunning content with the desert landscape as a backdrop, further showcasing the aesthetic and functional appeal of the IONIQ lineup.  

Immersive Activities at Camp IONIQ

Upon arrival, participants were greeted by the glowing IONIQ vehicles, which illuminated the campsite and set the tone for the IONIQ Moment—a spectacular synchronized light projection show powered entirely by the vehicles. This visual display highlighted the seamless integration of Hyundai’s technology with a creative and sustainable lifestyle.  

The evening unfolded with a curated supper club featuring a menu designed to reflect sustainability and innovation. Guests enjoyed gourmet meals under the stars, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the desert. Entertainment continued with video games projected onto the sand dunes, a unique experience made possible by the IONIQ’s V2L technology.
